Activities

Cross Country

Students who are in good academic standing may participate as members of St. Matthew Lutheran School athletic teams.  There are no try-outs or cuts based upon athletic skill, and we always function with the philosophy that anyone who fits the appropriate age/gender criteria is welcome to play on the team.

Destination Imagination

Destination Imagination (DI) is an after-school creative problem solving program.  The mission of DI is to develop opportunities that inspire students with opportunities to utilize diverse approaches in applying 21st century skills and creativity.  The goal of DI is to give students the chance to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation.  The creative process is about thinking and doing in no prescribed order.  The process integrates Blooms Taxonomy, the Scientific Method, 21st century skills, creative problem solving, and the stages of practical inquiry and whole child education.

Numerous drama opportunities are available at our school.  Our youngest students, in Preschool and Kindergarten, offer an annual Advent service through which the students present the nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Soon after, students in first through fourth grades present their Christmas service both during the School's Chapel and that evening's Advent worship service.  These students offer their love for our Savior through song and recitation.

Students in grades 5 through 8 have the opportunity to participate in band.  Our band instruction takes place once a week by a qualified band instructor through Novi Public Schools.  Two levels of band instruction are available: Beginner and Advanced.  Decisions regarding which instrument instruction is best for your child will be held between the student, parents, and band instructor.

Scripture encourages us to use our voices to glorify God.  At St. Matthew Lutheran School, we offer all students in Preschool through Grade 4 opportunities to enhance our worship services at various times throughout the school year with their voices.
