HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong doing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

I have a dear friend who possesses a highly entertaining sense of humor. As a result, anytime I see a text message or email with her name attached, I immediately know it will result in a good laugh. Here is one of her classic emails that she sent to me a few years ago:

Advice To New Moms From An Experienced Mom:

"If your child should hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42-pound boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape."

"Your child should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. However, if your child should decide to use the ceiling fan as a bat, your child will need to throw the ball up a few times before he/she will get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way. Please be advised that glass in windows (even double pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan."

"Play-dough and microwaves should never be used in the same sentence."

"When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh", it's already too late."

The role of a mom can be very exciting as well as rewarding, and yet so unpredictable! Praise God for the moms who are cheerleaders and encouragers. Praise God for the moms who are the family Uber-drivers and can memorize the weekly schedule in a blink of an eye. Praise God for the moms who spend late nights talking to their children and helping them process emotions, as well as putting things into proper perspective. Praise God for the moms who endure sleepless nights tending to a sick child or who help wipe away tears of frustration and hurt.

Most importantly, praise God for moms who in difficult situations and/or challenges, point their children to Jesus for guidance, strength, and direction. And if you are a mom reading this, we praise God for YOU!

Happy Mother's Day!

In Jesus' Love,

Mrs. Palka
