CAN I PRAY FOR YOU?

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."  Ephesians 6:18

It was one of those PE situations in a child verses a scooter encounter, and unfortunately, the scooter won, leaving the little girl with a split chin from the impact that occurred when she hit the gym floor. The clean and deep gap between the layers of skin immediately revealed that stitches were going to be required. The good news was that her mom serves as one of our PE teachers, so informing the parent was not an issue. However, while mom was retrieving ice, not only did God put Mrs. Yeskie in the right place at the right time to help, but Mrs. Yeskie also had the joy to overhear this conversation between the little girl and one of her very concerned classmates as they sat on the gym bleachers together:

Owen: "Charlotte, would it be okay if I prayed for you?"

Charlotte nodded in agreement, as tears of pain and fear stained her little cheeks.

Immediately, Owen and Charlotte folded their hands and closed their eyes as Owen spoke with conviction the following prayer:

"Dear Jesus,

Please heal Charlotte and help her feel better.

Thank you,

Amen”

Scripture speaks of “childlike faith”, where it is absolutely beautiful when you have the privilege to observe it in action! Owen knew there was a problem, but more importantly, Owen knew who to turn to for help in resolving the problem. So often, when there is a difficulty or a challenge, we exhaust a long list of ways we try to solve issues on our own, instead of immediately turning to the One who is “all powerful” and asking for His assistance.

As we prepare to conclude the 2023/2024 school year, we pray that this has been a wonderful year filled with tremendous academic, social, and emotional growth. However, more importantly, it is our prayer that you have witnessed your child’s spiritual walk blossom to new levels of trust and faith.

Incidentally, when Charlotte arrived at the hospital, the nurse asked her what happened. As she reiterated the incident, she concluded her story by saying, "Then Owen prayed over me, and I felt much better."

Have a wonderful week knowing that God hears and answers your prayers!

In Jesus' Love,

Mrs. Palka
